Nuclear Medicine

The Department of Nuclear Medicine was established as one of the earliest units that performed radionuclide SPECT clinical imaging and therapy in Fujian province in 1996. Recently, it has become a mutli-functional integrated department with medical treatment, education, research and training in the field of nuclear medicine with advanced equipments. Furthermore, it is also an affiliated units for Institute of medical imaging, Medical college of Xiamen University and Xiamen Key Laboratory of clinical transformation of nuclear medicine (preparation).

The department of nuclear medicine mainly includes the following parts: PET-CT imaging room (SIEMENS Biograph PET-CT), SPECT-CT imaging room (GE Discovery NM/CT SPECT-CT, GE Infinia SPECT-CT), Function examination room, in vitro analysis laboratory, radioactive drug preparation room, radionuclide therapy in clinic and ward. It has become one of the most comprehensive units with more than 60 routine diagnostic and therapeutic items in Fujian province and even in China. There are more unique advantages in the fields of tumor, thyroid disease, cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, pulmonary embolism and Helicobacter pylori breath tests with 13C or 14C- urea. We also have rich clinical experience in radionuclide therapy, especially in hyperthyroidism, thyroid carcinoma and bone metastasis.

The department of nuclear medicine has a faculty of 14 full-time physician, technicians and nurses, of whom 1 is a professor, 3 are chief physician, 3 are deputy chief physician, 3 are intermediate titles.

The department of nuclear medicine has undertaken a number research projects,   of whom 2 were from the National Natural Science Foundation, 1 was from the Technology Foundation for Selected Overseas Chinese Scholar, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China, 1 was from the Scientific Research Foundation for the Returned Overseas Chinese Scholars, Ministry of Education of China, 12 were from Fujian or Xiamen Natural Science Foundation. There are more than 20 papers published in international renowned journal, such as, Scientific Reports, Advanced Materials, ACS Nano, Mol Pharm, Chem Commun and Cancer Lett, et al. There are also two awards from Fujian or Xiamen scientific and technological progress.

 

Academic Leader

Xinhui Su is a professor and the director of the department of nuclear medicine. He gained his M.D and Ph.D from Fujian Medical University, and returned to China from Stanford University in November, 2012. Recently, He is a reviewer of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and a member of the Youth  Committee of Chinese Society of Nuclear Medicine, oncology group of Chinese Society of Nuclear Medicine, Committee of Nuclear Medicine of China Association of Medicine Equipment, Standing Committee of Fujian Society of Nuclear Medicine, and deputy director of the Youth Committee of Fujian Society of Nuclear Medicine. Prof. Su serves as a reviewer of many international renowned journals, including "PLOS ONE", "Cancer Biotherapy and Radiopharmaceuticals" and " Chinese Journal of cancer prevention and treatment", et al. Prof. Su has also undertaken a number research projects, of whom 2 were from the National Natural Science Foundation, 1 was from the Technology Foundation for Selected Overseas Chinese Scholar, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China, 1 was from the Scientific Research Foundation for the Returned Overseas Chinese Scholars, Ministry of Education of China, 8 were from Fujian and Xiamen Natural Science Foundation. more than 20 his papers have been published in international renowned journal, such as, Scientific Reports, Advanced Materials, ACS Nano, Mol Pharm, Chem Commun and Cancer Lett, et al. Furthermore, Prof. Su has been awarded from Fujian scientific and technological progress, granted utility models of two patents, and applied for invention patents for 4 his products.
