Thoracic surgery department of Zhongshan hospital affiliated Xiamen university is the key disciplines of Xiamen. It has been established in 1995. From last 20 years，it become to be an influential department which contain 47 beds and more than 30 medical care personnel. There are 13 doctors，including 4 Chief physician ，4 associate chief physician，4 physician-in-charge. It also include 1 doctor and 7 masters. Nowadays it has become a team with reasonable academic echelon, strong technical force and advanced equipment. It also integrate medical treatment, teaching and scientific research. It is the National Resident standardized training base and National clinical drug trial base.

The director Duan Hongbing has been the member of Anti-Cancer Association of China , Cardiothoracic surgery branch of Chinese Medical Association, National esophageal cancer Specialized Committee, thoracic surgery branch of Xiamen Medical Association（director）. He has engaged in clinical medical treatment and teaching . He is good at minimally invasive treatment of esophageal cancer, lung cancer , complex mediastinal tumor and Chest wall deformity， Especially for early diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer.
