The department of Rheumatology of the Zhongshan Hospital Xiamen University is a comprehensive department integrating medical care, teaching and scientific research. In addition to the diagnosis and treatment of common rheumatic disease, the medical team also has some successful experience in dealing with difficult and refractory rheumatic diseases. Some characteristic treatment has been developed including plasma exchange, immune adsorption, and mesenchymal stem cells immune reconstruction et al, which mainly targeting on the patients with refractory autoimmune diseases. The medical team is made up of 11 physicians, 4 of which are senior professional titles. The department director Xue Yuan is an extraordinary talent introduced by Xiamen municipal government, and who is the vice chairman of Rheumatology of Fujian Medical Association at present. And the nursing team may provided continuous, comprehensive and overall care of high quality for our patients. In addition, the medical staff  pay attention to chronic disease management and patient self- management. The health education for the patients has been carried out for a long time, which has received perfect effect. Due to the comprehend ability, the department has been ranked the top three in rheumatology and autoimmune diseases discipline of Fujian Province in the "2016 annual chinese hospital technology influence ranking" hosted by Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.
