The Department of rehabilitation includes modern rehabilitation therapy, acupuncture, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and traditional massage, physiotherapy and professional groups. The combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment of various internal and external diseases, rehabilitation, physical therapy, exercise therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and modern rehabilitation therapy and traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture and massage, traction, physical therapy, physical therapy and has a variety of advanced instruments. Founded in 1995，the department of Gerontology in Zhongshan Hospital is Xiamen Municipal planning key subject of medicine. It is also the first Gerontology department in Xiamen. The department is highly focusing on prevention, diagnosis, treatment, research and education of geriatrics, developing our expertise and interests in diagnosis and treatment for geriatric internal medicine diseases.

The department now has 15 doctors, including 6 chief physicians, 4 associate chief physicians, 2 attending physicians and 3 residents. 4 doctors have been elected to the national and/or municipal committee of professional societies. There are special outpatient services such as osteoporosis, vertigo, cognitive disorder, dementia and rheumatic diseases, etc, with 44 authorized beds available. Our department possesses the first-class medical equipment, for example dual energy X-ray absorptiometry, arteriosclerosis detector, etc. It has been awarded Xiamen Science and Technology Progress Award for 6 times.
